About us
UKIDA is the UK association of the International Dart Association (IDA). As such, the overall objective of UKIDA is ‘keeping the class strong by encouraging people sailing at all levels.
To do this the UKIDA committee try to put on a good race programme through clubs, arrange training sessions for all levels, provide social media and website platforms where sailors can compare notes and keep up to date with what is taking place, as well as producing a magazine.
In addition to the above, UKIDA work behind the scenes in association with the IDA, liaising with the sport’s governing bodies and the boat manufacturers to try and ensure the class retains its strong one design pedigree, and is accessible to all.
The UKIDA committee is now made up completely of volunteers. The old paid, part-time role of secretary has now gone. Partly due to this saving, at the 2019 AGM a decision was taken to reduce full membership payments to £30. Whilst membership is still strong, we hope that this reduction will encourage even more people - crews and helms, old and new - to join the association and keep the ‘Dart World’ solid, long into the future.
To help slightly ease the workload on the committee, we have now moved towards using WebCollect to take membership fees and other costs covering items such as training, boat transport and some event entries. We are aware that a few members still have standing orders in place for the old £40 membership fee, and we would ask these people to cancel those and migrate to the lower web collect system of £30. Please don’t leave us!
