Rutland Sailing Club, Gibbet Lane, Edith Weston, Rutland, LE15 8HJ

Rutland are hosting TT3 which is combined with our Inland National Championships. The event is included within the annual Rutland Cat Open event, this not only gives you the chance to meet old friends from past Dart 18 fleets, but also to encourage an ‘away weekend’ for all the cats from your various clubs.

Rutland is approximately 3000 acres, and as such it is one of the largest man-made stretches of water in Europe. Once entries open please book on online as this will ensure we have our own start.

The club has a large boat park and modern facilities, including 48 beds in 10 bunk rooms which can be booked directly through the club (if looking at doing this you are advised to do so quickly as they will go!) Although camping is not permitted on site, there is a basic campsite run by a local farmer immediately across the road from the club gate. This takes motorhomes (£10) and tents (£6). The campsite is dog-friendly for friendly dogs, and the club allows dogs in car park.

For the non-sailing members of the family, Rutland water has an easy 17 mile cycle route around the reservoir.

RTYC is delighted to host the 2025 Scottish Dart Championships . We have hosted the championships for the last 8 years, with a number of boats travelling within Scotland and from south of the border. RTYC has a fleet of 18 Darts, with regular turnout of 6-8 for weekly racing. Racing is  in front of the Clubhouse on the Tay Estuary, with tidal flows playing a major part of the racing strategy. This  enables superb spectating and hosting of social activities to complement the current  beach facilities. Motorhome spaces are available with electric hook-ups in the car park. The Beach Club will cater with hot filled rolls and refreshments during the day, whilst the Main Clubhouse will be open during the evening for social events.

Given enough attendees the D18s will have their own start.

The event is based on the banks of the sheltered the Colne Estuary, whilst racing normally takes place 1 - 2 miles out to sea.

TT3 – Royal Tay Yacht Club

Royal Tay Yacht Club, Glenogil House, 9A Ogilvie Road, Broughty Ferry, Dundee  DD5 1LU

RTYC is one of Scotland’s premier water-sports clubs covering yachting, dinghy sailing with a 20 strong fleet of Dart18’s. The sailing area is on the lower estuary of the River Tay, the longest river in Scotland. There are many places on the river to explore by boat if visiting for a longer period, dolphins are a frequent sight during the summer months.

The new clubhouse opened in 2023 adjacent to the dinghy park, being only a few yards from  the 3 slipways and racing area, it is ideal for spectating. With motorhome facilities and camping on site, along with many local hotels in Broughty Ferry there are lots of accommodation options. Most local amenities can be reached via the cycle path that passes the club.

The club will be open from Friday lunchtime with a free BBQ in the evening. Food will be available throughout the weekend, either at our Beach Clubhouse within the dinghy park compound, or more formally from our Main Club. A social event is planned in the main clubhouse on the Saturday evening. From previous experience, this will be a notable evening with traditional Scottish hospitality…

First race on Saturday 8th June, not before 1200hrs and 1030hrs start on Sunday to allow people to get home in reasonable time. There may be some club boats available to use if visiting from further afield – contact the club for details.

TT2 / Nat – Dee Sailing Club

TT2 / Nat – Dee Sailing Club

Dee Sailing Club, Station Rd, Thurstaton, Wirral, CH610HN

Following the success of Bridlington last year, there was really only one choice of where to go for the Nationals this year. Dee offering its great hospitality and value for money are all set to host this years event under the watchful eye of their new commodore and ‘Dart Doctor’ Will Thompson.

The club is perched on the cliff top overlooking the Dee estuary and Wales beyond and the front lawn offers a great ‘balcony’ view of the racing. Although tight on space, the club offers free on-site camping and motorhome parking on a first booked / first parked basis.  For those who want slightly more room and an escape route from the club bar, there is also the Wirral Country Park Caravan and Motorhome Park which is within 400m of the club. The Country Park  has good facilities and views over the estuary, however book early as it fills up on bank holidays.

The club will be open on Friday for early arrivals and the first race is scheduled for 1115hrs on Saturday 25th.  Three Races are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday with two on Bank Holiday Monday. Outside (and probably during) racing, the club bar and galley will be open distributing ‘fuel’ to encourage you all onto the dance floor during the DJ led party on Saturday and the traditional Dee live band on Sunday night.

Dee has a tide window in which we sail, so there’s no hanging around and you ‘go’ or ‘don’t go’ at the published sailing times.  This means the rest of the time can be mapped out to fit with any non-sailing members. The Wirral Way (behind the club) offers good cycling opportunities, and low tide offers walks across the sands to Hilbre Island, with the chance of seeing the local seals and very special newts. Slightly further afield Cheshire Oakes designer village and Liverpool Docks might be tempting with a combination of shopping, museums and gallery choices. However, make sure you get back to Dee for their legendary parties and the beam challenge!

At £80 double handed entry fee, 8 Races, great views of the race area, 2 nights of parties, free motorhome parking / camping and even a T shirt thrown in, what more could you want on a May Bank Holliday, the club is even well-behaved dog friendly!

TT1 - Stone Sailing Club

TT1 - Stone Sailing Club

Stone Sailing Club, Tinnocks Lane, St Lawrence Bay, Southminster, Essex CM0 7NF

(Plus a fun race on 6 May)

A first visit to Stone sailing club for the Dart 18 fleet, however the venue has already been tested for us by the D15, Shearwater and Hurricane fleets who all count it as one of their favourites so we thought we should taker a look!

Stone sailing club has a small fleet of D18s but is very close to our newest active fleet at Marconi SC and the Marconi boats are all due to join us and make up a good ‘home fleet’. For those that have enjoyed the East Coast Piers Race in the past,  Stone is on the left, ¾ mile after the start, where the estuary widens, meaning there is a longer tidal window and less current at Stone than neighbouring Marconi.  As part of the Blackwater estuary Radio Caroline can be seen in the distance, along with passing Thames sailing barges and the odd seal.

The club will be open from Friday lunch time for early arrivals. Camping and motorhomes are allowed on site, as are well behaved dogs on a lead.  The bar will be open Friday night and food is available from the local Indian and Fish and Chip shops. Catering will be available at the club throughout the rest of the weekend.

There will be a Saturday night surprise in terms of entertainment, at this point I should mention this is the home club of the ‘Fat Boys’ and somebody called ‘Skippy’ so those of us with longer memories will know to expect anything!

The TT event will take place over the Saturday and Sunday of the Bank Holiday weekend and provided there is sufficient interest, a fun / long distance race will take place on Monday. First race on Saturday will not be before 12.30 and the aim is to run Mondays fun race early in order to let people depart for home in good time.

Carsington water is on the edge of the Derbyshire Peak District and in addition to the sailing the area offers much for the outdoor enthusiast.

to 9 Jul

TT6 – Royal Tay Yacht Club

Royal Tay Yacht Club, Glenogil House, 9A Ogilvie Road, Broughty Ferry, Dundee  DD5 1LU

We have a growing fleet of 20  Darts,  with regular turnout of 8-10 for weekly  racing,  and 3-4 boats  recently joined the class in the last year or so.  RTYC is delighted to host this event just weeks before the Worlds at Bridlington. We previously hosted a GP in 2017, and the Scottish Dart Championships for the last 7 years, with a number of boats travelling up from south of the border.

At the beginning of 2023, we will  be moving to our new  Glenogil House  Headquarters  located adjacent to the Beach Clubhouse and dinghy park/car park. This will enable superb spectating and  social activities  to compliment the current  beach facilities. Camping and motorhome spaces are available with electric hook-ups in the car park and beside the Beach Club. The Beach Club will cater for  hot filled rolls and refreshments during the day, whilst the Main Clubhouse will be open during the day and  for social events in the evenings.

There are many local hotels and B&B’s in Broughty Ferry and surrounding area. For those travelling from further afield and wishing to extend their stay, Tayside,  Fife  and Angus have many tourist attractions to offer.

The Club will be open on Friday to welcome visitors, with probably a BBQ in the evening and other social events throughout the weekend to compliment the sailing.

One of the largest Dart fleets in the country with a regular club turn out of between 10 and 20 Dart 18s on a summer weekend. As the Southern event prior to the worlds and no restrictions on numbers this promises to be a big event.

The ‘new’ clubhouse has the best view of any Worthing balcony, great for watching the racing and a venue for Saturdays party night.  Camping is possible (let us know if this is your intention) and motorhomes can be parked in a beach side car park 100m from the club. Dogs are welcome on some of the beach and although not allowed in the club house, can enjoy the view from the balcony.

TT4 – Mumbles Yacht Club

Mumbles Yacht Club, 746 Mumbles Rd, Mumbles, Swansea SA3 4EL.

This is a regular and fun host club for both TT and National events, that always has a very welcoming approach. The club is situated towards the end of the ‘Mumbles Mile’ and the town offers many accommodation, eating and drinking options all within reach of the club.

This year our visit is combined with their club regatta which will ensure plenty of fun and games.

Camper vans can normally park in the car park opposite the club or on the road outside.  Both the club and the town are dog friendly.

Mumbles is on the edge of the Gower Peninsula and anybody who can take a few days holiday may well want to explore the great coastline slight further West of Mumbles.

TT3 – Inland Championship

to 21 May

TT3 – Inland Championship

TT2 – Swanage Sailing Club

to 23 Apr

TT2 – Swanage Sailing Club

Swanage Sailing Club, Buck Shore, Swanage, Dorset, BH19 2AW - Entries are now live

Swanage is a traditional and popular holiday town within a sheltered bay on the Dorset coast. The club has 7 or 8 of its own D18s and the location is close enough to Parkstone for their larger fleet to sail over.

The club is in the heart of the town and there is limited space on site, the club are looking at additional boat storage options and the event has been scheduled early in the season to avoid the busier holiday period, however once entries open book early as numbers will be limited.

Motorhome parking (especially for larger vehicles) may be difficult near the club but Swanage has lots of holiday accommodation and camp sites on the outskirts. For those not sailing the Town has a sandy beach (dog friendly in April!) and a steam train to Corfe Castle as well a good access to many attractions and walks on the Jurassic coast.

Numbers are limited due to space: book now

TT1 – Dee Sailing Club

to 10 Apr

TT1 – Dee Sailing Club

Dee Sailing Club, Station Rd, Thurstaton, Wirral, CH610HN - Entries are now live

Dee now has one of the largest club Dart fleets, and is renowned for its fun party nights (ask anybody who has been).

Dee has a tide window in which we sail, so there’s no hanging around and you ‘go’ or ‘don’t go’ at the published sailing times, which means the rest of the time can be mapped out to fit with any non-sailing members. The Wirral Way (behind the club) offers good cycling opportunities, and low tide offers walks across the sands to Hilbre Island, with the chance of seeing the local seals and newts. Or slightly further afield Cheshire Oakes designer village and Liverpool Docks might be tempting with a combination of shopping, museums and gallery choices. However, make sure you get back to Dee for their legendary parties with live music and the beam challenge!

The club is perched on the cliff top overlooking the Dee estuary and Wales beyond. The front lawn offers a great ‘balcony’ view of the racing in the estuary. Although tight on space, the club offers free on-site camping and motorhome parking (subject to the size of the travelling motorhomes fleet not getting even bigger!). For those who want slightly more room and an escape route from the club bar, there is also the Wirral Country Park Caravan and Motorhome Park, with good facilities and views which is only 400m from the club. But book early it fills up on bank holidays.  The club is well-behaved dog friendly.
