RTYC is one of Scotland’s premier water-sports clubs covering yachting, dinghy sailing with a 20 strong fleet of Dart18’s. The sailing area is on the lower estuary of the River Tay, the longest river in Scotland. There are many places on the river to explore by boat if visiting for a longer period, dolphins are a frequent sight during the summer months.
The new clubhouse opened in 2023 adjacent to the dinghy park, being only a few yards from the 3 slipways and racing area, it is ideal for spectating. With motorhome facilities and camping on site, along with many local hotels in Broughty Ferry there are lots of accommodation options. Most local amenities can be reached via the cycle path that passes the club.
The club will be open from Friday lunchtime with a free BBQ in the evening. TT2 / Nat – Dee Sailing Club
Dee Sailing Club, Station Rd, Thurstaton, Wirral, CH610HN
Following the success of Bridlington last year, there was really only one choice of where to go for the Nationals this year. Dee offering its great hospitality and value for money are all set to host this years event under the watchful eye of their new commodore and ‘Dart Doctor’ Will Thompson.
The club is perched on the cliff top overlooking the Dee estuary and Wales beyond and the front lawn offers a great ‘balcony’ view of the racing. Although tight on space, the club offers free on-site camping and motorhome parking on a first booked / first parked basis. For those who want slightly more room and an escape route from the club bar, there is also the Wirral Country Park Caravan and Motorhome Park which is within 400m of the club. The Country Park has good facilities and views over the estuary, however book early as it fills up on bank holidays.
The club will be open on Friday for early arrivals and the first race is scheduled for 1115hrs on Saturday 25th. Three Races are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday with two on Bank Holiday Monday. Outside (and probably during) racing, the club bar and galley will be open distributing ‘fuel’ to encourage you all onto the dance floor during the DJ led party on Saturday and the traditional Dee live band on Sunday night.
Dee has a tide window in which we sail, so there’s no hanging around and you ‘go’ or ‘don’t go’ at the published sailing times. This means the rest of the time can be mapped out to fit with any non-sailing members. The Wirral Way (behind the club) offers good cycling opportunities, and low tide offers walks across the sands to Hilbre Island, with the chance of seeing the local seals and very special newts. Slightly further afield Cheshire Oakes designer village and Liverpool Docks might be tempting with a combination of shopping, museums and gallery choices. However, make sure you get back to Dee for their legendary parties and the beam challenge!
At £80 double handed entry fee, 8 Races, great views of the race area, 2 nights of parties, free motorhome parking / camping and even a T shirt thrown in, what more could you want on a May Bank Holliday, the club is even well-behaved dog friendly!

TT1 - Stone Sailing Club
Stone Sailing Club, Tinnocks Lane, St Lawrence Bay, Southminster, Essex CM0 7NF
(Plus a fun race on 6 May)
A first visit to Stone sailing club for the Dart 18 fleet, however the venue has already been tested for us by the D15, Shearwater and Hurricane fleets who all count it as one of their favourites so we thought we should taker a look!
Stone sailing club has a small fleet of D18s but is very close to our newest active fleet at Marconi SC and the Marconi boats are all due to join us and make up a good ‘home fleet’. For those that have enjoyed the East Coast Piers Race in the past, Stone is on the left, ¾ mile after the start, where the estuary widens, meaning there is a longer tidal window and less current at Stone than neighbouring Marconi. As part of the Blackwater estuary Radio Caroline can be seen in the distance, along with passing Thames sailing barges and the odd seal.
The club will be open from Friday lunch time for early arrivals. Camping and motorhomes are allowed on site, as are well behaved dogs on a lead. The bar will be open Friday night and food is available from the local Indian and Fish and Chip shops. Catering will be available at the club throughout the rest of the weekend.
There will be a Saturday night surprise in terms of entertainment, at this point I should mention this is the home club of the ‘Fat Boys’ and somebody called ‘Skippy’ so those of us with longer memories will know to expect anything!
The TT event will take place over the Saturday and Sunday of the Bank Holiday weekend and provided there is sufficient interest, a fun / long distance race will take place on Monday. First race on Saturday will not be before 12.30 and the aim is to run Mondays fun race early in order to let people depart for home in good time.

The club will be open for visitors to arrive on Friday afternoon. There will be camper van spaces available on Beach Walk in an exclusive area, info to follow. Saturday, food will be available (bookable in advance) followed by a live band The Dead Pelicans with hospitality second to none.
Expect 2 days of exciting racing and great camaraderie on the North Kent coast, the tides are perfect and we are hoping the weather will be kind. We are being sponsored by Whitstable Harbour Gin so expect some cracking prizes.

Carsington water is on the edge of the Derbyshire Peak District and in addition to the sailing the area offers much for the outdoor enthusiast.

Swanage is a traditional and popular holiday town within a sheltered bay on the Dorset coast. The club has 7 or 8 of its own D18s and the location is close enough to Parkstone for their larger fleet to sail over.
The club is in the heart of the town and there is limited space on site, the club are looking at additional boat storage options and the event has been scheduled early in the season to avoid the busier holiday period, however once entries open book early as numbers will be limited.
